Architectural design and landscape integration of a new re-use centre

The re-use centre is an innovative place intended to accommodate a continuous passage of objects. The project introduced the separation of the main functions, that is depot, sorting and display of the goods collected.

The reuse centre is made up of three warehouses, each one with specific purposes. One has been designed as a cube measuring 7.30 meters sideways with a free floorplan in order to guarantee a flexible and dynamic organization of the exhibition space and whose flexibility is reflected also in the elevations which, thanks to the use of mobile perimeter panels, are completely openable. This warehouse was intended to store objects and put them to display.
The second and third warehouses, built later, have been designed to be stripped of the infill. One hosts the control and supervisory functions while the third one stores all the materials collected waiting for a second life.

The external flooring is finished in stabilized lime and cement and deliberately contrasts with the nearby grassy surface.
This green area has been designed with particular regard to develope different hight and to outline a drainage ditch lined with a pre-existing row of mulberry trees.
